Project type

Design, Content Creation, Social Media Management

Date

2017-2022

Role

Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Organization

Boyle Street Community Services

As Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Boyle Street Community Services, I was responsible for managing and creating content for the organization’s social media platforms. I developed and implemented strategic social media campaigns designed to raise awareness of Boyle Street’s mission, foster community engagement, and drive support for our programs and services. Through thoughtful content creation, I highlighted the impactful work being done for Edmonton’s vulnerable populations, using storytelling to humanize the issues and generate empathy.

I successfully created content for platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, tailoring each message to resonate with different audiences. This included producing visually compelling graphics, writing engaging copy, and capturing event photography to provide an authentic glimpse into the organization’s work. By consistently monitoring analytics, I refined our strategies to increase engagement, grow our online community, and enhance the organization’s digital presence.

This hands-on experience gave me a deeper understanding of how to use social media as a powerful tool to amplify important causes and build meaningful connections with the community.

Treaty 6 and Métis Region 4

I acknowledge the Traditional Lands on which I work and live as the traditional meeting grounds, gathering place and travelling route of many Indigenous communities, including the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuliné (Dene), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux) and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot). As a settler, I recognize and give thanks to Indigenous Peoples past and present who have protected and sustained this sacred land that we share and call home.
