Engineering Challenge Event Coverage

Project type

Writing, Photography, Social Media

Date

October 2022

Role

Lead, Digital Communications

Organization

United Way of the Alberta Capital Region

During my time as the Lead of Digital Communications for United Way of the Alberta Capital Region, I wrote and photographed a feature article for United Way’s Engineering Challenge, capturing the collaborative efforts of volunteers restoring a historic and healing campsite. Alongside the article, I created a social media post featuring event details and my photography to highlight the community’s dedication to preserving this meaningful space. This project allowed me to combine storytelling, photography, and social media strategy to engage both donors and the broader community.

Location

Edmonton, Alberta

Treaty 6 and Métis Region 4

I acknowledge the Traditional Lands on which I work and live as the traditional meeting grounds, gathering place and travelling route of many Indigenous communities, including the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuliné (Dene), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux) and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot). As a settler, I recognize and give thanks to Indigenous Peoples past and present who have protected and sustained this sacred land that we share and call home.
